Public space is crucial to Hong Kong, to provide stress-free space apart from our hyperdense living environment. It also offers space for equity, which its accessibility shall be equal for every social class. The making of public space is equally challenging. It should be adaptive, on one purpose for delivering a range of privacy, meanwhile introducing voids in order to engender public creativity and expansion quality. In this way, it allows interactions between different sectors from public so as to build social cohesion. I am currently studying Master of Architecture in HKU.

In turbulent times of the surging pandemic and intensifying climate crisis, I am very much interested in the question of civilization - “What is the role of architects in the face of these daunting challenges?” I believe big ideas start from small steps. How we design urban seating, is essentially how we design urban spaces, and how we construct an ideal society. Public space is undeniably an essential component to promote social equality, by providing dignity, choice, visibility, and opportunity to people’s lives. Confronting the fuelling demand for new models of urbanism, we need to be open, critical, and rigorous, to engage in the change from the scale of a chair, a park, a community to a city as a whole. I am dedicated to placemaking and community empowerment, currently working with the creatives from One Bite Design Studio in Hong Kong.
